Job Description

Salary:

  • R25,000.00 – R30,000.00 CTC.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Diploma/Degree in Road Freight / Logistics.
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years’ working experience within the Road / Freight Industry.
  • Experience working on Ship Shape or similar management system.

Skills:

  • The candidate must be able to work on Excel / Word and Outlook.
  • Must be able to communicate at all levels both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to prepare own correspondence.
  • Candidate must be able to take responsibility and accountability for oneself and team.
  • Self-management.
  • Must have the ability to find solutions to problems.
  • General office administration.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have sound knowledge of transport administration.
  • Must have strong customer focus, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must have excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, highly pressurized environment is essential.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, strong attention to detail and follow up is necessary.
  • Must have knowledge of all SADC requirements.
  • Must have understanding of operations processes, methods, practices within sea freight environment.
  • Must have knowledge of all Freight clearing procedures.
  • Must be Customer Orientated.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in the handling of hazardous shipments advantageous.
  • Must have knowledge of road commercial insurance and loss control practices.
  • Must have knowledge of road cross board policies and procedures.
  • Must have excellent geographical understanding.
  • Must be Engaged, Energetic & Excellent.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the Profit and Loss for current period completed and files locked each month end.
  • Report on Profit and Loss errors to the Branch Manager.
  • Provision reversals to be completed on a weekly basis.
  • Open File Summary report to be checked daily.
  • Weekly Age Analysis & Credit Limit reporting – work closely with the Debtors team to recover monies and manage credit limits.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly and annual divisional budget.
  • Build own consolidations to various over border destinations.
  • Focus on developing new business opportunities.
  • Retention of existing clients.
  • Forging internal relationships within the Group – Sea, Air, Depot.
  • Building strong relationships with both with clients and suppliers.
  • Negotiating of rates with business unit suppliers.
  • Checking creditor’s invoices to ensure billing is in line with rate cards or estimates.
  • Capturing costs on shipshape.
  • Timeously invoicing files on shipshape.
  • Creditor invoices to be processed for payment upon receipt of a clean POD.
  • Registering all files for shipments to the SADC regions.
  • Ensuring the allocated transporter is compliant and has sufficient GIT insurance in place to transport the cargo.
  • Communicating with external transporters and ensuring the documentation is in order.
  • Monitoring and tracking transport daily movements.
  • Updating our internal tracking report daily.
  • Ensuring that cargo is delivered in good condition.
  • Ensuring correct export/import documents are received from clients.
  • Preparing all estimates for SADC and BLNE regions.
  • Updating clients with day-to-day tracking.
  • Providing clients with daily tracking reports and email updates.
  • Ensuring that delays are communicated with the clients within 15min of receiving the information from our service providers.
  • Assist clients with queries and find a suitable resolution for same.
  • Familiarize and study the road freight internal SOP
  • Provide daily tracking & POD’s to clients
  • Assisting with any other tasks related to the SADC routes.
  • Knowledge of all documentation for customs clearing.
  • Following up with collection and delivery points.
  • Following up on estimates to see how successful we have been.
  • Checking the receipt of cargo into the company’s warehouse.
  • Checking export docs before handing over cargo to our appointed transporters.
  • Checking MSDS & HAZ cargo requirements.
  • Planning of consolidations dedicated and full truck loads.
  • Route planning, transport schedule for drivers.
  • General office administration.
  • Liaison with transporters, consolidators regarding the movement of cargo to each region within the SADC region.
  • Responsible for submission of invoices to finance for payment.
  • Deliverables and general performance discussion quarterly.
  • Compliance to all HR policies, practices and administrative procedures.
  • Weekly operational meetings.
