Job Description
The Senior Sea Export Controller oversees the export process, ensuring timely and accurate shipment documentation, compliance, and coordination with carriers. This role manages end-to-end logistics to optimize efficiency and meet client requirements in sea freight operations.
Salary: Market Related
Job Requirements:
- Industry experience – minimum of 5 years medium to senior level of freight forwarding industry
- Age range 25 – 40
- Sound knowledge of incoterms
- Knowledge of commercial, transport, carrier & depot and statutory body documents & stamps
- Customs requirements knowledge (advantageous)
- Hazardous goods knowledge
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport
- Shipshape experience
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Strong ability to handle high volumes of e-mails and respond timeously
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills (written & verbal)
- Client orientated.
- Accuracy, punctual and attention to detail

- Ability to work in pressurized environment

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate estimates / quotes to clients.
- Sound knowledge of shipping documents, procedures and requirements.
- Monitor the export process and assist in the preparation of documents.
- Administration of shipping file.
- Arrange cargo forwarding and invoicing.
- Verify charges on invoices (Shipping lines, Agents).
- Sound knowledge of shipment types and terms.
- Obtaining updates from shipping lines, overseas agents and suppliers in a timely manner.
- Client services support i.e. updating clients with ETA’s, cargo readiness and expected delivery dates.
- Comfortable to work with various shipping lines and co-loaders.
- Working with National currencies and international codes.
- Liaising with various customs and government departments.
